Today, I had the pleasure of meeting Diana Campbell Betancourt, an American curator working primarily across South and Southeast Asia. In 2020, ArtReview’s Power 100 recognized Diana as number 41 among the 100 most influential figures and movements in the international art world. Diana is currently curating a forthcoming exhibition at BOZAR, where she will present Palauan art next year. BOZAR is a multi-purpose cultural venue in the Royal Quarter of Brussels, Belgium. The meeting was hosted by a Brussels-based art collector and attended by members of the Oceanic Art Department of The Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. An inspiring encounter and an exciting conversation about Palauan art, Oceania, and the future of its place on the global art stage. Special thanks to Alan Seid for making the introduction and bringing us together.
