The flag of Palau waves back at Antwerp City Hall.
The city hall’s design team has restored this 450-year-old Renaissance building to its former glory. Four years on the works are now complete. Following its restoration that took account of sustainability goals the building also meets today’s comfort demands. The hall has great historical value. All the flags of the 27 countries that belong to the European Union hang on the facade. In addition, the flags of all countries that have a consulate in Antwerp are displayed. The order of the flags is determined by the year the country joined the European Union or the date the country's consulate was officially recognized.
